Embodied Landscapes
A collaborative project with artist and photographer Mariam Menteshashvili. An investigation into connections exploring how human beings and non-human beings relate to each other. Textiles became the medium that connected us. Textiles have the unique ability to transmit information and emotion, and they can inspire movement and influence how we perceive the world.
The textiles featured in the portraits are created using dyes derived from various natural sources, including trees like logwood and birch bark. These botanical dyes not only enhance the aesthetic quality of the textiles but also embody a deep connection to nature, further enriching the narrative of our collaboration.
Through this project, we aim to highlight the intricate relationships between humans and the natural world, using textiles as a bridge to convey these connections. By capturing these moments in photography, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural materials that surround us and the stories they tell.
